In the early 2010s, the joint "Extraraum" campaign of the City of Aachen and local universities draws attention to the tense housing situation. Headed by Professor Christoph M. Scheller, students of FH Aachen's Faculty of Design stage the initiative, incorporating it into the townscape, thereby attracting a great deal of public attention. With the "Extraraum" project, the faculty is continuing a long tradition - the focus of its work is the joint pursuit of innovative design solutions that are cutting-edge and closely linked to social issues.
