In the middle of nature, yet close to the city, that's how Campus Eupener Straße presents itself. Where the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and the Faculty of Business Studies are located today, was once home to a country estate. The history of the so-called "Gut Bodenhof" dates back to the 15th century.
When the number of students at the Faculty of Business Studies increases in the 1980s, and space in the old Printenfabrik on Rochusstraße becomes scarce, the search for alternative buildings begins. At last, FH Aachen is tipped off that the company Philips is willing to sell some of its buildings.
Shortly before Christmas 1991, FH Aachen is informed that the necessary funding has been granted and that the purchase contract has been approved. The Rectorate decides to give the building to the Faculty of Business Studies as well as the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
The building also houses a central library and a dining hall. On 19 May 1993, the time has come: The ceremony to officially inaugurate the FH building on Campus Eupener Straße is held in the foyer of today's main building.
