An Institution's Calling Card

05

If it is true that the main building is an institution's calling card, then FH Aachen took a big step forward in the spring of 2015: After a construction period of only a year and a half, the new main building is opened. Thanks to its shining silver façade and its prominent location at the intersection of Bayernallee/Robert-Schuman-Straße, it is visible even from afar.

Much more important than the radiant exterior, however, is the concept underlying the new building: everything in one place, everything from a single source. Services are to be offered as a bundle, especially in the new Student Service Centre on the first floor. In the fifty years of its existence, FH Aachen has had three main buildings. In the beginning, the Rectorate and administration were accommodated at Kurbrunnenstraße 22, directly at the Burtscheid Viaduct. Later, the university administration moved to the building located at Kalverbenden 6.
